When you are surrounded by materialism and the utmost evil of religious fundamentalism there are only three options

1) do nothing

2) become a part of the music resistance

3) meltdown with the mindless

When the radio won’t listen to the music that you make because it is too far from the centre and it belongs on the periphery of cultural life get more cds pressed.

When the journalists regard you as a fake irrelevance because you don’t follow the idiotic catechism, dogma and attitudes of the 1960’s called rock and roll then become more vulnerable and sensitive. Push with all your might to create a new emotional landscape for music.

Music is not a weapon designed to humiliate, degrade and exclude people. Music is the heart and soul of our emotional lives. Music brings us together regardless of our all too apparent differences.

And I call on all the musicians who believe in sharing their music as a bridge between the different worlds and cultures to stay strong and focused. Don’t give up on making music. Don’t give up the way all religious leaders and all political leaders have. Let music be the one area where truth and hope can exist. Let music be the voice of our genuine humanity.

Share in the music resistance. Let music be your source of strength. When the music industry experts and moguls slap you in the face with their relentless cynicism, arrogance, manipulation and poison realities - thank them. Thank them for making things clearer for you. Thank them for making the music resistance stronger and truer.

Remember one honest humble musician is worth ten A & R men and women.

Music belongs to the people not the wheels of the music industry or the collaborating media gimps who maintain and nourish the idea that music is a self serving destructive abyss. Music does not belong to the conformist musicians who care about nothing, who believe in nothing, who hang out with similar self serving parasites and brag about the size of their wallets and bank balance.

Music is real. In music we trust.
